The Top 7 Fashion Week Beauty Essentials

Trends may change, but the products used to create them stay surprisingly consistent. Here, a few key items we've spotted again and again backstage.

NARS THE MULTIPLE IN COPACABANA
We've watched many makeup artists—even those who have contracts with other brands—pat this illuminating pink-y silver cream on models' brow bones and cheekbones.

M.A.C. FACE AND BODY FOUNDATION
This sheer formula has perfected complexions at countless shows, including Donna Karan, Chloé, Balmain, and Aquilano Rimondi.

ELIZABETH ARDEN EIGHT HOUR CREAM SKIN PROTECTANT
Smoothed over cheeks, limbs, or lips, it adds a pretty gleam—and it looks especially cool when makeup artists layer it over eye shadow. "It's tough to do a show without it," makeup artist Tom Pecheux told us.

SHISEIDO MAKEUP LUMINIZING SATIN FACE COLOR
Supersilky and highly pigmented, these powder blushes have brightened up cheeks at shows like Michael Kors and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

SK-II FACIAL TREATMENT MASK
If makeup artist Pat McGrath is in the house, you're sure to find her models doing a pre-makeup prep backstage with these moisturizing (and vaguely Jason-like) masks.

COVERGIRL EYE ENHANCERS SHADOW IN TAPESTRY TAUPE
This shimmery beige eye shadow has been used to add a subtle sheen to lids at shows such as Gucci, Versace, and J. Mendel.

AQUAPHOR ADVANCED THERAPY HEALING OINTMENT
It quickly softens lips or dry patches of skin, and it's often mixed with powder shadows or blushes to give them a creamy texture. At one Narciso Rodriguez show, makeup artist Dick Page even combined it with black pencil liner, then smudged the blend around the eyes.
